Phytoleum Technologies Group (PTG) is a bioenergy and bioproducts company. PTG has developed and been awarded patents for novel new production processes for the extraction of terpenes and related hydrocarbons from biomass.
The Product
These hydrocarbons are Terpenes, a class of hydrocarbons produced by living organisms. They are polymers composed of isoprene subunits with an empirical formula of (C5H8)n. These molecules have value as fuel, plastics, and chemical feedstocks. From the extracted terpene mixture PTG produces two products, Pinene and Phytoleum.
• Pinene is a valuable monoterpene (C10H16). It is used directly as an end product as turpentine, and in the formulation of certain paints, inks, adhesives, and other manufactured products.
• Phytoleum is a hydrocarbon product from plants that is valuable as a fuel or a crude oil. Upon refining there is no difference between Phytoleum derived from plant hydrocarbons and Petroleum derived from geological hydrocarbons.
